Once you have completed a Project, you’ll submit an Invoice directly through Lawyer Exchange! To view, create, and manage all invoices, click the My Invoices tab.

View Invoices

The My Invoices tab will automatically show you all your invoices, both pending (submitted but not yet paid) and paid. Select a filter in the top right hand corner of the page to view only pending or paid invoices.


Create An Invoice

To create an invoice for a project, begin by clicking “Create an Invoice” in the upper right hand corner. Once on the invoice screen, select the applicable Project.

You’ll then fill in the following fields:

-Date: this is the date of the work you completed, not necessarily the date you’re submitting your invoice

-Task: this is the work you completed. Some projects may have more than one task – you can discuss this with the Hiring Lawyer when establishing the scope of your work.

-Pay Rate: this is the payment amount you and the Hiring Lawyer have agreed upon. For Hourly work, you’ll see this listed as an hourly rate; for fixed cost work, this is listed as a Fixed Price.

-Number of Hours/Quantity: for hourly work, you’ll put in the number of hours you dedicated to this task. For fixed cost work, you’ll input the quantity – this will typically be “1” but may vary based on the project.

You can add more lines for various tasks as needed.


Your invoice will automatically populate the total amount due to you, followed by the Lawyer Exchange Service Fee, and a grand total for the Hiring Lawyer. The Lawyer Exchange Service Fee is equal to 10% of the Invoice total amount and is paid by the Hiring Lawyer, so there is no cost to you for completing projects!


Once everything looks right, click “Submit Invoice” in the upper right hand corner. You will then be re-directed to the “My Invoices” tab, where you will see this invoice as “pending”.


If you’ve made an error on your invoice, you can delete it at any time by clicking “Delete Invoice” in the My Invoices tab.


Payment

Upon creating your first invoice, you will be prompted to submit information to create (or connect to) a Venmo account. Lawyer Exchange uses Venmo, powered by Braintree, for payment processing. It is a service that allows you to collect payments and transfer them to your bank account easily. Learn more about Venmo here. In order to connect to Venmo, you’ll need to provide your Social Security Number, Date of Birth, and Street Address.


Viewing and Downloading a Paid Invoice

Once the Hiring Lawyer has paid your invoice, you will see the payment amount appear in your Venmo account within 1 business day. You can view your paid invoices under the My Invoices tab by clicking “View Invoice”. From there, you can download a copy of the invoice for your records by clicking “Save as PDF” in the upper right hand corner.


Invoices for Ongoing Projects

Based on your discussions with the Hiring Lawyer, you may take on a Project that requires submitting multiple invoices. You can submit as many invoices as you need to through the My Invoice page or through the Project details page.
