Once a Project Lawyer has completed your Project, they will submit an Invoice directly through Lawyer Exchange. To view, pay, and manage all invoices, click the "My Invoices" tab.

View Invoices

The "My Invoices" tab will automatically show you all your invoices, both pending (submitted but not yet paid) and paid. Select a filter in the top right hand corner of the page to view only pending or paid invoices.

View An Invoice

To view an invoice for a project, begin by clicking “View Invoice” below the Project title. Once on the invoice screen, you’ll then see the following information:

  • Date: this is the date of the work they completed, not necessarily the date they submitted the invoice
  • Task: this is the work they completed. Some projects may have more than one task – you can discuss this with the Project Lawyer when establishing the scope of their work.
  • Pay Rate: this is the payment amount you and the Project Lawyer have agreed upon. For Hourly work, you’ll see this listed as an hourly rate; for fixed cost work, this is listed as a Fixed Price.
  • Number of Hours/Quantity: for hourly work, you’ll see the number of hours dedicated to this task. For fixed cost work, you’ll see a “quantity” amount – this will typically be “1” but may vary based on the project.

The invoice automatically populates the total amount due, including the subtotal to the Project Lawyer and the Lawyer Exchange Service Fee. The Lawyer Exchange Service Fee is 10% of the Invoice's total amount.

Payment

If everything looks right, click the green button that says “Pay Invoice”. This will prompt you to enter credit or debit card information.

Lawyer Exchange uses Venmo, powered by Braintree, for payment processing. It is a service that allows you to pay invoices easily. Learn more about Venmo here.

Viewing and Downloading a Paid Invoice

You can view your paid invoices under the My Invoices tab by clicking “View Invoice”. From there, you can download a copy of the invoice for your records by clicking “Save as PDF” in the upper right hand corner.

You can also see a record of all your payments under your “Payment History” in your “Settings”.

Invoices for Ongoing Projects

Based on your discussions with the Project Lawyer, you may have a Project that requires paying multiple invoices. You can pay as many invoices as you need to through the My Invoice page or through the Project details page.
